Frequently Asked Questions
Acupuncture is a proven 5,000-year-old branch of traditional Chinese medicine designed to restore natural balance. Treatments gently stimulate specific acupoints along meridians, which serve as the body’s primary energy channels. This process frees the flow of vital energy known as “QI” (pronouched chee) Internal organs and bodily systems realign into full harmony, resulting in your body recovering its innate ability to repair itself and maintain peak wellness.

What Happens During the First Visit?
Your initial consultation features a thorough diagnostic evaluation to measure the quality, quantity, and balance of your Chi. Four precise assessment methods guide your personalized care plan:
- Pulse Assessment: Dr. Deb evaluates over 26 subtle pulse variations across six positions on both wrists.
- Visual Observation: Facial demeanor, voice tone, and tongue characteristics offer vital insights into internal organ health.
- Health History Review: Open dialogue uncovers essential details about your medical background, lifestyle, and emotional well-being.
- Physical Examination: Gentle palpation of key acupoints reveals exact physical energy blockages.
What Are Needle Treatments Like and Do They Hurt?
Acupuncture needles are exceptionally fine, flexible, and hair-thin, unlike thick, hollow hypodermic needles. Precise placement into targeted acupoints creates virtually no sensation upon insertion. Most patients describe a gentle tingling or soothing warmth as the needle engages your body’s QI. Many people find the entire experience deeply relaxing.
